| 8 JANUARY 2010 JCT SHINES IN GLITTERING CIOB AWARDS David Wilson of Morgan Ashurst Plc, who became CIOB Manager of the Year for his work on the De Grey Court, York St John University, was one of eleven winners of gold medals awarded by the CIOB, eight of which were for projects that used JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) forms of contract. Professor Peter Hibberd, chairman of JCT, in congratulating David Wilson, said: "Where construction teams have a positive approach to a project and are using a well understood contract, the number of problems tend to be lower than projects where the parties are not so properly engaged. "The CIOB awards reflect the best practice of the project team in terms of the responsibility for delivery on site, and the leadership of that process." JCT is the only consensual contract drafting body in the industry, and four out of five of all projects use its standard forms of contract. JCT contracts are developed and produced with the broad agreement of the property and construction industries. Its council members include the British Property Federation, Local Government Association, National Specialist Contractors Council Limited, Royal Institute of British Architects, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Scottish Building Contract Committee Limited.
