Sustainability

Sustainability and environmental best practice are issues that are core to JCT's ongoing work. As well as adopting a strategy to minimise our impact on the environment within the organisation, and encourage best practice amongst our members and suppliers, we are also committed to exploring ways in which the contractual process can be better enhanced to reflect the importance of sustainability in building projects.

JCT is the only contract producing body to include specific sustainability provisions in its contracts, as outlined in our Guidance Note: Building a sustainable future together.

Sustainability: Life Cycle Consultation - now live

JCT has launched a consultation to collect data, informed views and opinions from property professionals, the supply chain and other stakeholders on life cycle matters within the context of sustainability and construction contracts.

JCT Sustainability Group

JCT has set up a sustainability group made up of members and staff to explore and recommend any changes or additions to JCT's suite of contracts that may further support sustainable practice amongst contracting parties. This may include a specific set of provisions that can be selected to engender a sustainable working practice on a project, or the creation of a new supporting document outlining particular guidelines.
