Terms and Conditions for Online Purchasing

  1. General
    1. The JCT website is the online catalogue for the display of JCT goods available for purchase and the content displayed does not constitute an offer to sell JCT goods to the customer. By using the JCT website for the purpose of purchasing JCT goods, the customer agrees to these terms and conditions in their entirety.
    2. These terms and conditions and any document, message or email from JCT constitutes an entire agreement between JCT and the customer and both parties agree that neither party relied upon any other term, condition, undertaking, promise, assurance, representation, warranty, or understanding (whether in writing or not) of any other person relating to the supply of JCT goods to the customer.
    3. JCT reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time and without prior notice.
  2. Placing an order
    1. An order placed by a customer constitutes an offer to purchase from JCT any JCT goods. Acceptance of the order by JCT constitutes JCT’s agreement to the customer’s offer and creates a legally binding contract between JCT and the customer.
    2. JCT reserves the right to reject any order received from the customer, at its own discretion and for any reason whatsoever. Customers will be advised of any rejected orders.
    3. On acceptance of an order, and subject to availability and the customer providing the correct billing and delivery address, JCT will endeavour to despatch the goods indicated within the order to the customer, according to the terms of delivery and despatch set out below.
  3. Payment for goods
    1. Payment by credit/debit card (Mastercard/VISA) is taken at the point the order is submitted by the customer. Where goods are out of stock or advance orders are placed, goods will be despatched automatically when available. Customers will be advised if their order is out of stock.
    2. All payments must be made in British Pounds Sterling.
    3. JCT aims to accurately display the prices of all goods listed on its website. In the event that a customer places an order for a good that is inaccurately priced on the website, JCT will notify the customer of the correct price and ask the customer whether they still wish to proceed with the order.
  4. VAT
    1. Customers based outside the UK will not be charged VAT.
    2. Customers requiring VAT invoices for their purchases can download them by logging in to their account.
  5. Delivery and despatch
    1. UK delivery and despatch
      1. Standard delivery for UK orders (excluding Channel Islands and Isle of Man) is generally within 3-5 days business days of placing the order (excluding weekends, public holidays and the Christmas/New Year closing period notified on the JCT website: www.jctltd.co.uk/christmas-closures) subject to stock availability. For customers requiring documents urgently, we recommend our JCT On Demand service (www.jctltd.co.uk/jct-on-demand) . 
      2. A standard despatch fee of £6+ VAT applies for all deliveries.
      3. Once despatched, orders may be tracked using the link provided in the despatch notification email.
      4. A signature may be required on delivery.
      5. Delivery cannot be made to a PO Box.
    2. Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and Overseas delivery and despatch
      1. Goods sent outside the UK and to Channel Islands and Isle of Man are sent by standard courier services, taking approximately 7-21 working days. For customers requiring documents urgently, we recommend our JCT On Demand service (www.jctltd.co.uk/jct-on-demand).
      2. A standard overseas despatch fee of £29.16 applies for all deliveries.
      3. Once despatched, orders may be tracked using the link provided in the despatch notification email.
      4. Overseas orders may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the customer. JCT has no control over these charges. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so customers should contact their local customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from www.jctltd.co.uk, customers are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which they are receiving the products. Our customers' privacy is important to us and we would like our international customers to be aware that cross-border deliveries are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities.
      5. Delivery cannot be made to a PO Box.
    3. JCT Contracts Complete Edition 2024 Delivery and Despatch
      1. For JCT Contracts Complete Edition 2024 orders, the following standard delivery charges apply (From 1 August 2025, 50% of the standard delivery charges apply):
        • UK orders (excluding Channel Islands): £16.66
        • Channel Islands: £58.32
        • Europe: £120
        • Rest of World: £320
    4. JCT is not responsible for any delivery that does not reach the customer as a result of circumstances beyond its control.
  6. Cancellation
    1. Customers may request to cancel their orders prior to despatch. Any notification of a wish to cancel an order must include the order number and must be made by email to jctcustomerqueries@tr.com
    2. Any request by customers to cancel their orders prior to despatch is at the discretion of JCT.
    3. Any refund will be made as soon as possible and within 14 days at the latest. Refunds will be issued by the same payment method i.e. debit card payments will be refunded to the same debit card.
  7. Returns and refunds
    1. Any claim for non or late delivery of goods must be made within 28 days of placing the order.
    2. Goods remain the property of JCT until paid for in full.
    3. Return of damaged/incorrectly despatched goods.
      1. Any damaged or incorrectly despatched goods should be returned with original packaging if possible, within 30 days from when the goods were received for UK customers and 30 days for overseas customers. A returns form (download here) must accompany any returned goods. (If you are returning an item purchased before 17th December 2025, please contact us by using the Contact Us form: www.jctltd.co.uk/contact-us to obtain a returns form for that order.) 
      2. Customers wishing to return damaged or incorrectly despatched goods must contact our customer services team, by emailing jctcustomerqueries@tr.com to obtain a DPD returns label BEFORE returning your items. 
      3. Where goods are damaged or incorrectly despatched, replacement goods will be sent to the customer at no additional cost.
    4. Return of unwanted goods.
      1. Customers wishing to return unwanted goods may do so up to 14 days from when the goods were received for UK customers and 28 days for overseas customers. A returns form (download here) must accompany any returned goods. (If you are returning an item purchased before 17th December 2025, please contact us by using the Contact Us form: www.jctltd.co.uk/contact-us to obtain a returns form for that order.)
      2. Goods must be returned in a re-saleable condition and customers must arrange for their return at their own expense. Any refunds, including the original despatch cost, are (subject to any statutory provisions) at the discretion of JCT. Any refunds will be made within 14 days from receiving the returned goods.
      3. Return of goods outside the period mentioned in 7.4.1 is at the discretion of JCT. Customers should contact JCT to check for the eligibility of refund. Refunds of the goods will be subject to the following admin charges. Any despatch cost will not be refunded.

      4. For returns of unwanted goods, please contact our customer services team, by emailing jctcustomerqueries@thomsonreuters.com for approval and returns instructions. 
      5. Refunds for JCT Training Video Modules will be given where the incorrect or unwanted video has been purchased, but not in the event that any part of the video has been viewed.
  8. Special offers, promotions and discounts

    1. Where customers are responding to a promotional offer or discount, a discount code may be required (applied during the checkout process) to amend the price on a qualifying order.

    2. Where a discount or promotional code is offered against a specific item or group of items, the discount or offer can only be claimed against those particular items.

    3. Discounts are offered on the value of the goods only.

    4. Generally, unless specified, only one discount/promotional code will be allowed per order or per customer, per transaction.

    5. Promotional codes and discount vouchers can only be used on full-priced items and cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts or offers. Sale or discounted items are excluded.

    6. JCT reserves the right to withdraw or change promotional offers and discounts at any time and refuse any application.

  9. Mistakes and Complaints​​​​​​​
    1. ​​​​​​​Any mistakes or complaints concerning orders or delivery should be made by using the Contact Us form: www.jctltd.co.uk/contact-us.
    2. Any mistakes or complaints in respect of invoices or payments should be addressed to JCT Accounts Department:

      Any mistakes in invoices or payments, once agreed, will be corrected as soon as possible, and at the latest, within 30 days of agreeing to do so.

    3. All complaints will be acknowledged within 5 working days. Notification will be provided for the length of time estimated for resolution of any complaint.

  10. Customer Data

    1. ​​​​​​​JCT uses customer data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Genreal Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

    2. JCT shares customer data with its third party supplier only for the purpose of despatching and delivering goods to customers.

    3. JCT does not provide customer details to third parties for use in any marketing or promotional activities.

    4. JCT or any third party supplier does not store or keep record of customers’ credit/debit card details.​​​​​​​
